This is a subscription-based quarterly publication from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Each issue contains in-depth articles on subjects ranging from board governance to marketing to measurement as well as shorter articles giving examples of practices that work.
The Center for Creative Leadership
The Center for Creative Leadership has publications and programs devoted to developing effective leaders. CCL also publishes a free monthly newsletter.
BoardSource has information and publications that address nonprofit governance issues, particularly board development.
Effective Communication
"Getting Attention" is a free, monthly e-newsletter focused on marketing and communications for nonprofit organizations.
Action Plan Marketing has free articles and resources to help you design and implement an effective offline and online communication strategy for your nonprofit.

Basic Guide to Program Evaluation
The Management Assistance Program for Nonprofits provides information and resources for nonprofit organizations through its Free Management Library. When the link opens, scroll down until you reach program evaluation.
The Bureau of Justice Assistance web site has an excellent glossary of evaluation terms as well as reports.
Fundraising
The Foundation Center provides information, publications and training about grantmaking by private foundations and corporations. There are links to other resources, including IRS Form 990 information on grantmaking by particular private foundations.

Health and Social Indicator Data
This web site, from the National Association of Planning Councils (NAPC), provides health social indicator data from communities across the United States.
Child Trends maintains the Child Trends Data Bank of indicators related to children and youth. It also publishes research briefs on issues related to children, youth and families and research-based information describing promising practices in programming for children and youth.
KIDS COUNT is a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. KIDS COUNT tracks the well-being of children in the United States. Data are available nationally and by state.
Robert Niles has compiled an excellent list of resources for finding data on the Internet. Although it is designed for journalists, it is a useful resource for other individuals and organizations.
The National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership
The National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership is a collaborative effort with the Urban Institute and local partners. The project is designed to further the development and use of neighborhood level indicator data.
